Bar & Bat Mitzvah Program
What is the Bar & Bat Mitzvah Program?
Launched in 2002, the Jewish Day School Bar & Bat Mitzvah program gives Bar & Bat Mitzvah-aged students the opportunity to become direct supporters of the State of Israel with Israel Bonds.
Young people who participate in this program often share their pride in knowing that owning Israel Bonds is partnering with a nation that is pushing the boundaries of life-saving innovations in hi-tech, green-tech, clean-tech and biotechnology.
Participating Schools
How it Works
Each school participates a little differently, and that is the beauty of the program. It is parent driven and as such, parents decide what will work best for their cohort. It is the participation that bonds the students with Israel.
Start with an AMOUNT
Most schools will pick a meaningful amount (usually a multiple of Chai $18) and multiply by the number of participating students.
Make your INVESTMENT
Each participating student’s family invests the total contribution amount determined by the cohort on behalf of their child.
Get your ISRAEL BOND
Participating students will receive a 5-year CDN dollar Israel Bond at the conclusion of the program. This bond will accrue interest for the duration of the 5-year term and will mature with interest and principal paid to the participating student.
Be a part of a MOVEMENT
In addition to the Israel Bond, students will receive a certificate listing all the participating cohort in this program. This certificate has been given to students across the city since inception in 2002 bonding them together as part of this movement.
This investment replaces traditional gift giving for each Bar/Bat Mitzvah simcha.
